The installation exposes the paradox surrounding female pleasure: though an undeniable right, it has historically been subjected to systemic repression and stigmatization. In the effort to conceal pleasure, some cultures go so far as to erase the woman herself, stripping her of subjectivity. The depiction of a corporeal form lays bare this injustice. The triple repetition amplifies the work’s resonance and attempts to reframe the feminine through the lens of the sacred—an effort to reclaim harmony by inscribing the female experience within it.
The work is titled Pleasure—a concept problematized in the context of Lacanian jouissance. Situated within the realm of the Real, jouissance lies beyond limits and carries an element of painful excess, while the pleasure principle, tied to prohibition, law, and regulation, belongs to the Symbolic order.
